CompStak is hiring an Accountant to improve the company’s accounting processes and controls. The role will encompass all aspects of the accounting process, including, but not limited to, involvement in the financial statement closing process, budget-to-actual analysis, bookkeeping, cash management, external audit involvement, investor reporting, and more. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This role will report directly to the VP of Finance and will be crucial as the team and company continue to grow rapidly.
The ideal candidate will be someone who is willing to roll up his/her sleeves and do what needs to be done. Some of that work may feel like a real stretch, and some of it may feel beneath him/her. We are a lean team, and this person will be essential to helping us scale our Finance/Accounting function.
What You'll Do
Lead the day-to-day accounting function for the company
Help prepare the company for its first audit, helping create documentation and implementing controls
Prepare monthly account reconciliations; assist with month- and year-end closing processes
Establish and manage the AP/AR process; partner with internal departments to ensure their needs are addressed and invoice processed on time
Act at the point of contact for employee expense accounts
Experience with any of this software is preferred but not required, full training will be given.
Skills & Qualifications
CPA or working towards a CPA designation; strong understanding of US GAAP
Experience and aptitude in bookkeeping
Proficiency in Excel
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
Experience with QuickBooks (or another accounting system) and Excel
Attention to detail and process, thoroughness, and sensitivity to confidentiality
Ability to identify and prioritize tasks and ask questions
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong communication skills when working with internal and external stakeholders
Experience with HR and HR processes is a plus
