The Senior Financial Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting and is primarily responsible for external financial reporting and intangible asset analysis. The position is an important member of the Office of Budget and Finance, and provides recommendations for improving compliance with GASB standards and NACUBO cost classification; ensures accounting procedures conform to applicable accounting principles and guidelines; prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports; ensures external reports comply with applicable standards; provides audit support, and implements analytical improvements. A successful candidate will understand the importance of aesthetics in reporting and have the ability to present data in a manner that conforms with the audiences' expectations.
The position is responsible for the work on Monthly Financial Reports, Annual Financial Reports and the preparation of external reports. They work on the development, implementation, and maintenance of tools used for external reporting, financial analysis, the creation of matrices, projections, and ratio and variance analysis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or similar - 3-5 years experience in Accounting or Financial Analysis and reporting - An equivalent combination of education & experience will be accepted
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in finance or equivalent / Certified Public Accountant Experience in higher education and/or State of Texas accounting operations Experience in the UT System and/or UT Dallas
