JOB SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by providing financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports, and ensuring the company is prepared for the annual financial audit. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including adjusting journal entries, preparation, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and fixed asset accounting. This position also acts as an interface to internal customers at Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Central Virginia that are supported by the Executive Office to effect real time problem analysis and resolutions.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the book and tax fixed asset schedules for assets with a cost basis of approximately $80M. This includes timely set up of acquisitions, disposals and transfers.
• Prepare annual reporting to localities regarding assets located in their jurisdiction for personal property tax purposes
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliation for all cash, credit card and money market accounts.
• Review and process daily sales entries into the general ledger
• Prepare and distribute monthly case sale reporting to management
• Assist with month-end closing cycle including reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
• Update floor cost calculations for produced products
• Update purchased product cost
• Serve as one of the point people for the annual financial audit
• Serve as Accounts Payable back-up
• Other Projects as assigned
