Position Purpose This position reports to the CEO and is responsible for the entire range of financial activity for the organization, including both the treasury and accounting functions. Formulates and recommends policies on banking, receipt and disbursement of funds, extension of credit, fiscal and accounting matters. Responsible for development of standard accounting, analysis and reporting procedures, and for exercise of overall financial control. This position is also responsible for business and administrative functions as well as developing a long-term financial strategy to include growth and sustainability plans. Works in partnership with Chief Program Officer and the Chief Human Resources Officer in the pursuit of cultivating organizational expertise in finance and compliance.
Essential Duties • Provides executive-level leadership to the Department and RMHS. • Implements long and short-range strategic corporate objectives, operating business plans, and policies • Represents RMHS’s interests in actions, communications, and decisions. • Enhances RMHS’s position as an innovator/thought leader/change agent in the field of human services. • Acts in a leadership role in the implementation of corporate initiatives/strategic planning/innovation management. • Engages in corporate risk management including legal liabilities for RMHS’s interests. • Actively works to create an engaged, diverse, high-performing organization. • Formulates and presents the budget and financial status to the Board of Directors. • Advises and partners with the CEO on the overall non-profit/corporate structure and governance of the corporation. • Cost accounting including multiple overhead accounts. • Cultivates the connecting systems to support the program functions of the organization to be aligned with financial requirements. • Responsible for the structural makeup of the finance and accounting operation • Leads and Develops the overall financial functions, including audit and reporting as well as responsibility to the Finance Committee and the BOD. • Oversees the annual audit and month-end closing. • Oversees and ensures quality of accounting reports. • Oversees the monitoring of all expenditures and cash disbursements of Rocky Mountain Human Services. • Oversees the preparation of the annual budget. • Analyzes departmental budget recommendations and requests. • Assesses the fiscal impact of expenditures on total organizational fiscal soundness. • Serves as signatory on major/significant expenditures and contracts. • Consults with CEO regarding all significant financial decisions. • Responsible for maintaining the billing and financial reporting for all contracts and grants. • Leads and oversees the development of accounting systems and processes. • Develops a highly qualified staff. • Oversees the management of Administration, Revenue Cycle and Information Technology.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience navigating complex fiscal environments.
Strong knowledge of organizational fundamentals of developing and coordinating budget activities and schedules for a large and complex institution.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems; Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Ability to establish goals and objectives.
Must be knowledgeable in current accounting and regulatory trends and policies.
Must be a flexible self-starter; able to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.
Proven effectiveness developing IT programs to include organizational security and staff to create and implement new processes and systems increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting, finance, tax, and non-profit management.
Ability to meet/work with staff, stakeholders or clients in a variety of settings.
Participates in agency and community planning and education.
Develops and maintains records, plans and reports.
Lift and/or carry 20 lbs.
Sit, stand and walk for reasonable periods of time.
Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
Performs related work as assigned.
Eight years of professional experience, including managing the finance and administration of an organization with complex fiscal environments (preference given to experience within nonprofits or government accounting, exceeding $25 million in revenues from diverse sources).
Progressively responsible management experience to include excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team.
Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget, and resource development.
CPA strongly preferred
Experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, using analytical tools, and process improvement desirable.
MS/MBA preferred in Accounting, Business, Management, or Finance.
Experience with developing and implementing IT/Data systems organizational strategy.
