About the role
This person will be a Business Partner to Business Development, Project Managers, Engineering and Finance team to manage project budgeting and develop accurate cost estimates to create competitive product pricing, and bids on new opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities / Duties
Develop accurate cost estimates to create competitive product pricing / bids on new opportunities.
Work closely with the Senior Cost Accountant to manage project budgeting and controls process.
Work with management team to estimate, forecast, budget and report on the performance of the ongoing projects.
Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, designs, specifications, and related documents.
Conduct project risk assessment, mitigation plan assessment, and planned contingencies (time, money, resources).
Compute costs and forecasts by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements. Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, designs, specifications, and related documents.
Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
Prepares cost analysis and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information, cost drivers and trends.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending CPM meetings and validating forecasts and project cost data.
Assist in the preparation of management reporting package, labor time reporting, and reporting required under commercial terms with customers / transit partners.
Assist with year-end audit activities, including the preparation of the audit schedules and support.
Support an environment of continuous improvement by making recommendations and implementing solutions where possible.
Support the Finance department in the preparation of various ad-hoc projects and reports

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required.
5-10 years of Cost Estimation experience preferred.
Sitetracker experience is a plus.
BIM (building information modelling) and CAD (computer-aided design) preferred.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel (Formulas: LOOKUP, SUMIFS, and INDEXMATCH).
Ability to multi-task.
Highly motivated and organized.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in working with non-finance personnel.
