Role Overview :
Self-Help is seeking to expand financial services to our members and to grow our member base in Tallahassee, FL and surrounding area. We are seeking a dynamic leader with strong business development, community economic development, philanthropy, advocacy, nonprofit and/or and financial services experience to lead the development and expansion of our regional retail footprint in this area.
Essential Responsibilities :
Represent and promote Self-Help in community and business development activities to enhance Self-Help’s brand and demand for products and services with particular focus on deposit, mortgage, and consumer loan growth.
Serve as an active participant in key community development and policy initiatives in Tallahassee and the surrounding areas.
Research, develop and maintain relationships with deposit cultivation and loan-generating opportunities, in coordination with Self-Help mortgage, commercial and consumer lending staff to promote regional development and responsible lending. This includes effectively representing Self- Help with realtors, non-profits, banks, government agencies, elected officials, and other community partners.
Work in collaboration with other branches and colleagues on issue campaigns that advance Self- Help’s community economic development priorities, programs, and activities.
In conjunction with senior management, participate in strategic planning to develop production goals, budgets and operating plans to achieve them.
Oversee branch performance and activity, taking action to implement plans or interventions when components of branch performance are lower than expected.
Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary.
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience and 5 to 7 years of business development, advocacy, lending and/or banking experience, including 3 to 5 years of supervision.
Demonstrated success in business development/community leadership.
Proven management, coaching and leadership skills.
Ability to establish strong peer relationships and communicate effectively with multiple company disciplines, cross-functional, and external teams.
Strong analytical skills necessary to evaluate credit requests, prepare budgets and determine trends in a given market.
Exemplary communication and presentation skills.
Ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization and influence others without direct control.
Ability and willingness to travel in the region to build deposits and loan relationships. Position involves working evenings/weekends, as needed.
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles, practices, financial markets, banking, the analysis, and reporting of financial data.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
English/Spanish fluency a plus.
Experience working in or significant knowledge of Tallahassee and surrounding community.
Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to occasionally lift and exert force of up to 10 pounds.
