Bachelorâs degree and 7 years of related experience
Demonstrated knowledge of internal auditing principles and concepts.
Auditing experience in higher education or government.
Demonstrated experience or familiarity with information systems.
Experience using computerized auditing tools or performing data analytics.
Possession of Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Information Systems Auditor, or Certification in Risk Management AssuranceÂ
The Office of Internal Audit is seeking candidates for the Manager position. The Office of Internal Audit functions as an independent appraisal that offers objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value to Iowa State University and improve its operations.
This department helps Iowa State University accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. We will partner with management and work collaboratively with our clients to improve processes, efficiencies, and the control environment of the university.
The Manager will provide management direction in planning and performing all risk-based audits conducted by the Office of Internal Audit including:
Completing the annual risk assessment and establishing a broad, comprehensive audit plan.
Conducting complex internal audits to evaluate risks and controls throughout Iowa State University including operational, compliance, financial, information technology, investigative, and internal consulting projects. This includes conducting project level risk assessments, developing audit programs, performing and documenting audit tests and procedures, writing audit reports, and completing follow-up audits.
Establishing and maintaining relationships with key personnel and to stay abreast of emerging issues.
Consulting on university committees and work-groups.
Supervising the day-to-day planning and performance of all audit projects conducted by three auditors including the detailed review and sign-off of audit work papers.
Reporting to the Board of Regents Chief Audit Executive in setting the strategic objectives for the office.
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will possess the ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations. Outstanding organizational skills, ability to negotiate and strong attention to detail will also be needed in order to be effective in this role.
