The Senior Accountant II is an integral role within the Corporate Accounting Team. This role is responsible for assisting in the preparation of external financial statements, accounting for stock based compensation and leading the completion of statutory audits and providing oversite for certain subsidiaries.
Compile monthly journal entries and prepare reconciliations for to stock based compensation. Work with technical accounting team when necessary.
Ensure sufficient controls are in place with respect to stock based compensation and maintain related SOX narratives.
Prepare face of financial statements and certain footnote disclosures for Staples Inc. and US Retail by partnering with technical accounting.
Prepare financials and drive audit process for statutory audits.
Provide oversight over accounting and reconciliations of certain subsidiaries
Partner with other departments, such as HR, tax, legal, subsidiaries to maintain processes under area of responsibility.
Support external auditors on audit requests within area of responsibility.
Experience and Education:
Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses working knowledge of subject matter. Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred with 4 to 6 years of experience required (public accounting experience preferred but not required). CPA preferred but not required. Proficient with Excel. Oracle experience a plus.
