This position is in the Department of Accounting Services. The position is located at North Campus, Suite 1500. This position is for the Danforth Campus. Ability to travel to various locations on campus may be needed.
Responsible for the full range of workflow and analysis within the Accounts Payable department and an understanding of various areas of Accounting Operations. This position serves as a leader in the department while maintaining accuracy and integrity of work. This position is the backup for the department supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead day-to-day operations of AP workflow, including expense reimbursements (which includes procurement card activity), spend authorizations and miscellaneous payments. Review and approve complex and sensitive documents confirming they adhere to policies. Train and develop staff. Recommend and implement changes to workflow, policies and procedures while maintaining internal controls. Analyze and make decisions to solve complex expense and departmental problems and requests.� Provide quality customer service. Perform as a leader, serve as a liaison and represent AP in meetings / situations. Serve as the backup when management is out of the office.
Generate and analyze daily / monthly reports, monitor and reconcile exception reports, complete monthly travel audit. Prepare, analyze and compile information for management to make decisions and for staff to complete their work effectively. Manage work streams.
Other responsibilities include:
Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations.
Serve as a key tester for system enhancements/upgrades with current systems.
Assist with fiscal year-end, manage / analyze data, prepare schedules and compile reports.
Provide technical support to the department.
Assist with requests and projects that advance the university’s initiatives, provide support to achieve short and long term goals and present resolutions to issues or problems.
Perform other duties as assigned.
An undergraduate degree preferably in accounting or business and three years of related experience or equivalent education and experience to equal seven years of related experience.
Will need to register and provide personal information, validate identity, financial account information, email address, and mobile phone confirmation in order to access IRS TIN matching.
An undergraduate degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting and four years of related experience.
Prior experience working as a leader in an Accounts Payable department or business university environment.
Experience with Workday.
Experience working with accounting systems including AP or reimbursement system.
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities; ability to properly assess pertinent data and develop a framework for effective and practical solutions to complex issues.
Self-motivated individual driven by challenge with the ability to work independently and in a team environment with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access. Ability to develop, maintain and modify spreadsheets, programs and reports.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks under deadlines, exercise judgment, take corrective action; requires strong organization and follow-up skills.
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
The hiring range for this position is $44,986 - $57,369 annually.
