Position Description: Performs a range of detailed general accounting functions. Prepares journal entries, maintains general ledgers, prepares standard and non-standard accounting reports and statements. Responsible for reconciliation of general ledger accounts, as assigned. Monitors departmental, athletics, auxiliary, restricted, plant and agency accounts. Assists with month-end and year-end closing and NCAA reporting. Ensures day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with established accounting principles, University policies and objectives. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in accounting. Two years of general accounting experience, will consider Master’s degree in accounting/business plus one year relevant internship/work experience.
Experience using PeopleSoft Financial Management software Advanced computer skills including financial system queries and participation in upgrade testing and system maintenance Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, resolve unusual problems, and devise innovative procedures to improve operational efficiency Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong analytical and computing skills.
