Under the direction of the Vice President – Chief Financial Officer provides oversight of insurance and enterprise risk management, damage prevention, and system damage claims. Provides direction for management of risks across the organization; partnering with other managers to ensure that risks are proactively identified, periodically reviewed, managed, and communicated regularly to stakeholders. Directs placement of a comprehensive insurance program including property, casualty, financial, and other appropriate lines of insurance policies; developing programs that ensure adequate protection of City Utilities’ employees, property, and its Electric, Natural Gas, Water, Telecommunications, and Transit operations. Participates in the development and maintenance of the corporate Business Continuation program. Directs and facilitates the development and implementation of appropriate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes and reporting tools including the identification of top enterprise risks and mitigation efforts. Directs the utility’s damage prevention program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulation, and recovery of system related claims, including investigation, billing of damages, and collection from responsible third parties.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Risk Management, Finance, Business, or related field is required. Master’s degree in a business-related field is strongly preferred. Ten years of experience in accounting, corporate risk management, financial management, and/or project oversight with at least five years in a supervisory capacity required. Five years’ experience in utility business operations or management is strongly preferred. Additional advanced proficiency may be considered in lieu of one year of required experience.
Advanced proficiency, such as Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Claims (AIC), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Master’s Degree is required.
