The SBA is currently seeking a Private Market Investment Accountant. This role is responsible for performing accounting tasks for assigned private market accounts to ensure that transactions, including cash flows, and market values are reported timely, accurately and in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The position is expected to independently identify and coordinate the resolution of reconciliation discrepancies and be able to evaluate the reasonableness of reporting received from fund managers.
What you’ll do
Prepare daily and monthly reporting information for assigned private market accounts
Prepares daily, monthly and quarterly reconciliations for assigned private market accounts
Assists other staff members within the Accounting Reconciliation section
Develops and maintains thorough knowledge of the use of State Board of Administration (SBA) systems, operations and procedures and participates in Accounting’s cross-training plan
Performs other duties as assigned
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting. Must meet the eligibility requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination from the Florida State Board of Accountancy.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting
Skill in applying accounting principles and procedures to work assignments
Skill in independently analyzing and solving reconciliation discrepancies
Skill in maintaining accurate records and retrieving files from active and archive sources
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to effectively train others
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner
Ability to follow established policies, procedures and processes
Ability to learn new skills in a dynamic work environment
Ability to manage workload independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to perform accurately in a detail oriented environment
