This is a full-time position created by funding related to the fiscal responsibilities that CARES of NY, Inc. has undertaken. Currently, CARES of NY, Inc. is responsible for approximately seven million dollars spread across multiple communities and works with multiple community partners. In addition, CARES has multiple grants of its own that must be kept up to date with related financial tasks.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer. They will assist with tasks including but not limited to invoicing, preparing monthly vouchers, collecting payment, payment processing, assisting with monthly reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and financial reporting.
Bachelor's degree required. Preferably with a focus on accounting.
Additional Education: Master's Degree and/or CPA a plus.
Two to five years' experience in similar roles. Experience with QuickBooks, Excel, and general accounting principles. Prior non-profit audit experience preferred. Prior experience with government grants is a plus but not a necessity.

Solid understanding for GAAP and grant accounting.
Ability to effectively use QuickBooks.
Able to use Microsoft 365 suite (Including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and advanced Excel skills).
Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
Excellent verbal and communication and rapport-building skills required.
Highly organized and detail oriented.

$50,000-$65,000 depending on experience; this is a full-time role.

Responsible for account receivables and account payables.
Processes payment for both CARES of NY, Inc. and for subrecipients.
Reviews vouchers for grants and grant monitoring.
Performs cash reconciliation.
Maintain the General Ledger.
Prepare journal entries.
Assists with office purchases.
Maintains credit cards.
Ad hoc reporting, such as assisting with grant spend down forecasting.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
