The Property Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day financial duties, effectively computing, classifying, and recording numerical data to keep financial records complete and accurate. They must assure a high level of professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting duties including: recording of deposits, billing, distributions, recording of loan payments, security deposit accounting and calculation of management fees, for both residential and commercial properties
Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, tenant bill backs, intercompany payments, and property maintenance (CAM) payments on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Quarterly reporting on accrual basis, including depreciation and bad debt, for residential and commercial properties
Keep record of loan payments, check summaries, property tax escrow payments, and daily deposits/prepays
Assist in processing and coding of invoices
Assist in annual budget preparation, including updating tenant CAM estimates
Assist in residential delinquency follow up procedures including monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments, contacting debtors to arrange debt payoffs and keeping records of collection activity
Perform administrative tasks as needed
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
