The Senior Sales Tax Compliance Accountant interprets complex business rules and regulations in the process of establishing the Company’s U.S. sales tax and indirect tax compliance. Maintains tracking for the Company’s U.S. sales / use tax and other indirect tax responsibilities utilizing company’s software product, and ensures availability, completeness, accuracy, and access of the indirect tax returns for the Indirect Tax team and McKesson Business Partners.
The senior tax accountant position is accountable for the collection of tax-related information, reporting to taxation authorities at the federal, state, county, and local levels in a timely manner, and advising management on the tax impact of various corporate strategies. The position is also responsible for assisting with jurisdiction initiated indirect tax audits and other indirect tax projects as identified by the Tax Director or VP- Tax.
Key Responsibilities Prepare timely and accurate indirect tax returns including sales and use tax returns, business license tax returns, and similar tax returns for assigned businesses including the preparation of check requests / EFTs and associated information / documentation for journal entries
Prepare account reconciliations as needed and required, maintaining accurate record keeping of the filed tax returns and supporting documentation
Update the company’s tax calendar databases for filed tax returns
Identify tax savings, process improvements, etc.
Coordinate and resolve indirect tax return issues with various taxing authorities, including correcting internal processes
In conjunction with and at the direction of the SUT Tax Director, analyze indirect tax compliance requirements within and across McKesson businesses and prepare recommendations for compliance and consistency across McKesson businesses
Ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory agencies
Act as a liaison between Tax Department, Business Partners, and other stakeholders

Additional Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax concepts.
Knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax return preparation requirements preferred.
Excellent organizational skills for handling large volume of work with attention to detail.
Excellent decision making, problem solving, and communication skills.
Excellent understanding and proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SharePoint and Outlook.
Results oriented individual with the ability to work independently.
Working knowledge of Alteryx, Power BI, etc.
4 years’ experience in a business, legal, or financial environment.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or an associated discipline, or equivalent experience.
