This is a highly specialized position that supports the financial management of UCSF's six foreign offices in Africa and one in Asia, referred to as Global Programs for Research and Training. The Global Programs Accountant works closely with the local financial staff from UCSF's Global Programs offices and central units at UCSF (Controller's Office, Office of Sponsored Research, Academic Departments) to track and reconcile foreign expenditures incurred under Global Programs offices while ensuring alignment with University of California systems and policies as well as local laws and sponsor policies.
This position utilizes accounting concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of accounting practices and organizational policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and integration of accounting data from each office with the UCSF accounting system. This role also facilitates intricate financial reporting for sponsored projects administered by the Global Programs offices, including reviewing assessing of high risk or unusual transactions. This role uses professional accounting concepts and critical thinking to resolve complex issues related to Global Programs expenditure and reporting. This role also collects projected award budgets to forecast shared service costs and revise the charge rate and model, as needed.
