Our primary responsibilities include the following:
Provide financial services to the University, its customers and community Protect the University's financial resources Insure compliance with internal and external regulations, policies and procedures
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with development and implementation of accounts receivable system enhancements. 2. Administer the University's student/faculty/staff dining meal plans, charging accounts or making adjustments as necessary, providing reports of transactions and revenues generated as well as reconciliation of transactions to the general ledger. 3. Assist with implementation of various academic enrollment programs as required by negotiated agreements between the State of MS or MSU and other related entities. 4. Provide accounting support, reconciliations and reports necessary for administering the various academic enrollment programs according to established practice and Administration's expectations of each program. 5. Assist with the refunding of receivable account credit balances, ensuring the refunds are accurate, appropriate and comply with Federal, State and MSU academic aid regulations. 6. Assist with the administration of the University's payment plan program. 7. Process various aspects of sponsored student payments, including posting awards to student accounts, invoicing of sponsors and reconciling sponsor accounts for accurate and complete application of funds received. 8. Provide timely customer service to parents, students, faculty, staff, and/or other parties concerning account balances and other customer concerns while adhering to privacy regulations (FERPA). 9. Process various account adjustments for the AR unit, maintain files, communicate account adjustments and ensure the adjustments are accurate, appropriate and timely. 10. Provide assistance to the Accounts Receivable management team. 11. Prepare accounting adjusting entries for recording to the general ledger as necessary. 12. Assist in the calculation and preparation of the Annual AR Reconciliation analysis. 13. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree - Accounting, Business Administration, or Related discipline Related to the duties and responsibilities
Experience (yrs.) 2 years
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Experience using personal computers, spreadsheet applications and various other electronic equipment or programs necessary to perform the duties specified. 2. Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and /or procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer. 3. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and /or accounting applications. 4. Account balancing and reconciling skills. 5. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and /or projections.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and majority of work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
