Chief Financial Officer/County Auditor – Dunn County, WI (pop. 45,368) Dunn County, located in West-Central Wisconsin, is a largely rural county with several incorporated communities. The City of Menomonie (pop. 16,429) serves as the County Seat and is located one hour from Minneapolis-St. Paul and thirty minutes from Eau Claire, WI on the I-94 corridor. The County offers a high quality of life with numerous recreation opportunities, as well as two institutions of higher education, Chippewa Valley Technical College and University of Wisconsin-Stout (student pop. 9,619).
The County provides a full range of services including public safety, corrections, court services, health and human services, county buildings and parks, highway, transit, a County-owned nursing facility, environmental services, child support, and general administrative services. The County has 550 FTEs.
The Chief Financial Officer oversees a centralized finance team of 15 employees and is responsible for all financial functions, including payroll, accounts payable and receivable, budgeting, purchasing, and medical billing for the County owned nursing home. The County’s general fund budget is $25 million and all funds total $83 million. The Chief Financial Officer also serves the statutory functions of County Auditor and is responsible for all financial policies, procedures, and control as well as financial reporting and auditing. The position reports to the County Manager and is a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, along with the County Manager and Human Resources Director.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Nine or more years of experience in finance and accounting at a senior or executive level of a similarly sized organization.
Experience in finance and/or accounting in a city, county, or other government setting. Experience in Wisconsin is an asset.
Comprehensive knowledge of GASB, GAAP, FASB, and best practices for budgeting and financial management.
Knowledgeable and experienced with technology and enterprise resource (ERP) systems.

The 2021 starting salary range is $84,715 to $123,490 DOQ, plus excellent benefits, including the flexibility to work remotely. Dunn County is currently undertaking a comprehensive class and compensation study.
