Staff Accountant is responsible for endowments, investments, gifts & pledges, split interest agreements and Beneficial Interests in Trusts Held by Others. The position works closely with Chief Financial Officer and AVP Finance & Controller in relation to the endowment investment pool, the calculation of the endowment unit values, special non-cash investments, short-term investments, Beneficial Interests in Trust and split interest agreements. Ensures integrity of gift data in Banner system in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) standards. Coordinates with Institutional Advancement to properly identify gift restriction and type. Manages and reconciles the gift clearing account assuring that deposits are cleared on a timely basis. Responsible for accruing pledges receivable and other gift related entries for the Financial Statements

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 1-2 years of related accounting experience required. Knowledge of general accounting and financial standards for universities or other not-for-profit environments required. Knowledge of gift processing procedures and regulations preferred.

Must be self motivated with attention to detail. Needs to communicate effectively in written and oral communications. Ability to successfully function within, and contribute to a team environment. Needs to successfully analyze procedures and recognize deficiencies and develop, plan and implement strategies designed to improve procedures and processes. Must be able to handle confidential information in a discreet manner. Ability to show initiative in response to technological advances and business process improvements. Experience with Microsoft Office required. Experience with Oracle database programs preferred.
