In this role, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Director of Accounting. You will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. You will be an integral member of the accounting department for a growing Project and Program Management firm. You will assist with managing and monitoring accounting operational functions, including accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, financial reports, general ledger, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. You will ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and Federal Acquisition Regulations. You will accumulate and consolidate all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results. You will coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements. You will work directly with external auditors to complete annual audits, tax reporting, as well as ad hoc projects. You will provide the Director of Accounting with information vital to strategic decision-making processes.
The capable candidate has the ability to assess current accounting operations and offer recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes. You will assist with ongoing evaluations of accounting and internal control systems. You will support regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance. You will in conjunction with the Director of Accounting establish financial and operating budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards. You will create a documented system of accounting policies and operations. You will monitor certain cash and funding balances. You will perform additional duties as needed
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience
Previous experience as a senior accountant, accounting supervisor/manager, or controller
Thorough knowledge of finance, accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Attention to detail
Work effectively with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/supervise the work of other team members
Advanced computer skills, including experience with accounting software, Microsoft Office 365, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Access, database, or other system knowledge is a plus.
