Jasper County REMC is looking for an Engineering & Operations Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering and Operations, the Line Superintendent, Staking Engineer and Line Foreman in day-to-day operations activities. This position works closely with the Plant Accountant and serves as backup to that position.
Successful candidates must present themselves in a friendly and professional manner that positively influences all visitors and contacts. Strong communication and interpersonal skills is crucial to this position. Analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and databases is required.

Takes operations related phone calls/walk-ins regarding new services, service upgrades and relocations, dusk to dawn lights, and scheduled temporary disconnects/reconnects.
Schedules appointments and maintains calendars and schedules for the Operations Department and Staking Engineer.
Assists in creating estimates and processes CIAC records and invoices from staking estimates. Handles the receipt and refunding of Subdivision advances.
Creates and maintains consumer application files for new line extension requests and new services.
Addresses phone calls and email from members and other company personnel regarding questions about construction, outages, scheduling and general operations related procedures or policies.
Assists in the creation and maintenance of work order records and service orders. Processes work orders daily keeping all records in order.
Prepares right-of-way easements including legal descriptions for REMC and files at appropriate county courthouse.
Gathers information for accidents including police report, time sheets, transportation hours, staking sheet, and cost estimates and gives to Plant Accountant for billing.
Coordinates with the Director of Engineering and Operations in maintaining GIS and engineering databases and cross checks with billing records to ensure accuracy and match of all databases.
Assists the Director of Engineering and Operations and the Staking Engineer in regular maintenance of the GIS and WindMil engineering models and databases.
Keeps Operation’s Department current with work orders. Keeps records for job tickets and work orders. Coordinates and works closely with the Plant Accountant to ensure efficient and accurate month end closing of work orders.
Stays current on REMC safety standards.
Completes all paperwork in a timely fashion.
Completes all other duties as assigned within area of experience or certification
Provides other accounting or office services as requested, i.e., storms and annual meeting.
Works effectively as a part of the Operations & Engineering Team to suggest changes in processes, procedure, and activities; seeks to build consensus and cooperation from other personnel involved or impacted by proposals; determines ways of measuring progress and accomplishment.
Receives and manages outage tickets and emails and emergency calls from members, County, and state emergency personnel through the Outage Management System.
Assists in answering crew calls on the radio system.
Assists with dispatching crews on outages and service orders as needed.
Contacts customers when engineers are unable to contact them.
Takes customer calls/walk-ins requesting information on service relocations, service upgrades, dusk to dawn lights, and new services.
Figure cost of construction, sends contracts, and maintains that system.
