Carnegie Mellon University's Finance Division is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Team Lead for Payroll Accounting, you will ensure timely processing of payroll files and support senior accountants in reconciling payroll accounts. You will analyze and reconcile payroll transactions, research questions and issues related to costing allocations within the university's HRIS system (Workday), labor distribution charging in the university's financial systems (Oracle LD), suspense, and other accounting related items.
Core responsibilities include:
Support audit requests from internal and external auditors
Troubleshoot and resolve problems and issues in the operation of the Oracle Financials accounting system specifically, the Oracle Labor Distribution (LD) module as well as Workday HR/Payroll system
Processing and reconciling pay accounting files into the Oracle Financials system
Assistance regarding monthly reconciliation of all payroll related balance sheet accounts
Participate in Financial Systems, and HRIS Initiatives, which may include integration of existing or new International campuses/initiatives or upgrades
Work closely with team members to assist with identifying requirements, design solutions, create documentation such as test scripts, process documents
Generating effort certification notifications and reviewing effort aging reports to ensure efforts are certified as required by university policy
Running reports from the Data Warehouse of charges in suspense and notification to departments for correction
Participation in preparing yearly audit requests concerning redistribution of payroll charges
Provide assistance regarding projects supporting the overall payroll operation.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
3-5 years accounting experience, and experience with payroll information systems
Experience with Oracle Financials systems, specifically Oracle Labor Distribution and HR modules and Workday is highly preferred.
