The Office of Tax and Revenue Services is looking to fill a vacancy for an Accountant 2 position. In this role you are responsible to the Assistant Bursar for ensuring that all federal, state and university guidelines pertaining to the billing, collection and/or write-off of all university receivables are followed. As the Accountant 2, your responsibilities include:
reviewing and documenting all compliance with federal regulations for due diligence and processing Perkins loan funds;
reconciling and monitoring university student loans;
gathering, reconciling, and compiling year-end receivable data from all university, family medicine and College of Medicine accounts for submission to the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR);
preparing quarterly and year-end federal reports for notes receivables;
preparing adjusting, closing or reversing entries regarding year-end accounts/notes receivable for university, family medicine and College of Medicine accounts;
preparing the annual 1098E reports (student loan interest reporting) and transmitting to the IRS;
downloading and installing software updates for the collection of federal and institutional loans;
reconciling monthly bank deposits; and
performing other related duties as assigned.
The Office of Tax and Revenue Services works collaboratively with all departments to reduce ETSU's tax burden, ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations, and monitor for proper revenue recognition. Our office also creates and administers policies and procedures for tax law compliance and the protection of the university's tax exempt status.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or bachelor's degree in business supplemented with at least 24 semester hours in accounting required;
