Summary of Duties:
The Financial Operations Associate serves as a liaison between the Carson College of Business and WSU Foundation, and is responsible for analyzing and auditing philanthropic activity for Carson College in order to ensure proper used of funds according to Gift Agreements and efficient and timely distributions. In addition, the associate provides data integrity oversight across multiple systems, generates reports and analysis requested by Carson College leaders, business units and development staff. Incumbent has a tremendous impact on the organization in ensuring accuracy in gift processing and acknowledgments that creates a positive, often times first, experience for donors leading to future philanthropy. The work supports the Development office, the greater Carson College enterprise and more than 39,000 alumni, including alumni volunteers and leadership boards.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, which must include 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting and one year of relevant professional experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Minimum two years of office experience in an academic, business or professional environment.
Strong project management and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects with critical deadlines and changing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with constituents.
Demonstrated experience in database management, including expertise in data extraction and manipulation.
Must be able to gather and present data in an organized and meaningful way.
Attention to detail and analytical skills.
Able to work independently.
Understanding of privacy and data security best practices; ability to handle sensitive information appropriately and maintain confidentiality.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
Knowledge, skill and ability working with complex relational databases.
A Master's degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant can be substituted for professional experience.
Alumni relations or higher education experience preferred.
Experience with iModules and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Cybersource, and Mailchimp is preferred.
Knowledge and skill with email marketing including ability to work in HTML.
Experience with Ellucian Advance is preferred.
Experience with WSU or Higher Education gift and donor cultivation.
