Accountant II - Student Accounting (Time-limited) - Financial Services

Responsible for the full range of workflow and analysis within the Student Accounting department and an understanding of various areas of Accounting Operations. This position serves as a leader in the department while maintaining accuracy and integrity of work. This position is time-limited for the duration of the Student Sunrise (Workday) project (est 4 years).
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Reviews all monthly student billings and integrations.
Manages stale dated checks activity and determine accounts to turn over to unclaimed property.
Recommends and implements changes to workflow, policies and procedures while maintaining internal controls.
Analyzes and makes decisions to solve problems and address special requests.Â
Provides quality customer service.
Performs as a leader, serves as a liaison and represents Student Accounting in meetings / situations.
Assists supervisor with YE and 1098T process, including testing and issuance of forms.
Manages delinquent student receivable balances.
Responsible for running various processes/reports within an Access database and generating a series of delinquent letters.Â
Analyzes accounts, sets up special payment arrangements and completes bad debt adjustments.
Responsible for completing various GL reconciliations, preparing journals and ensuring appropriate adjustments are made timely in SAS and Workday.
Reconciles health insurance and dental insurance between the student system and insurance provider.Â
Records entries as needed and issue payment to insurance provider.Â Record journal entries to allocate health fees to departments.
Provides professional and courteous customer service to students, parents and University departments with respect to financial transactions on student accounts.Â
Requires answering customer emails and phone calls.
Other duties as assigned by management.
An undergraduate degree in accounting or business with an emphasis in accounting and four years of related experience.Â
Prior experience working as a leader in a billing or accounts receivable department or business university environment.
Experience with Workday.
Experience working with accounting systems including billing and accounts receivables.
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making capabilities; ability to properly assess pertinent data and develop a framework for effective and practical solutions to complex issues.
A self-motivated individual driven by challenge with the ability to work independently and in a team environment with a high degree of reliability, accuracy and productivity.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
Ability to forge relationships.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Access. Ability to develop, maintain and modify spreadsheets, programs and reports.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, exercise judgment, take corrective action; requires strong organization and follow-up skills.
Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
An undergraduate degree preferably in accounting or finance and three years of related experience or equivalent education and experience to equal seven years of related experience.
$45,800.00 - $75,900.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
