Collegiate School seeks an Accountant to work in the School's Business Office. The Accountant will be responsible for various monthly tasks, including reconciliations, online revenue and expense allocation journal entries and assisting the Controller with special projects. This position will work closely with all members of the Accounting Team. This is a full-time, 12-month benefited position.
General responsibilities include:
Prepare monthly reconciliations including bank accounts, miscellaneous receivables, tuition, and deferred revenue, among others.
Record monthly online revenue journal entries and reconciliations for several revenue streams
Prepare quarterly expense allocation entries
Perform detailed analysis of various accounts.
Review and approve monthly food service invoices; prepare JE for departmental charges
Prepare schedules for the School’s annual financial statement audit
Assist in preparation of various Form 990 (informational tax reporting) schedules
Assist Controller with ad hoc financial and risk management projects
Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
Demonstrated experience in not-for-profit accounting and monthly closing procedures
Strong attention to detail and organization
Proven ability to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines
Needs to possess resourcefulness and have a high degree of flexibility as well as problem solving skills
High level of proficiency in the use of technology for operational management, analysis and communication, specifically Microsoft Office and a web-hosted accounting software
Ability to demonstrate a high level of confidentiality
Four year college degree preferred
A minimum of two years of accounting experience, preferably in not-for-profit organizations
Experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge preferred
K-12 school experience preferred
Experience in and commitment to the ongoing development and maintenance of an inclusive campus community
