Responsible for ensuring that transactions are properly accounted for and recording journal entries. Responsible for accounting and reconciliation of general ledger accounts. Assist with month end close, allocations, and governance of the general ledger. Partner with business and internal Finance partners to develop and implement accounting practices consistent with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Perform accounting processes for a variety of transactions in accordance with GAAP internal and external policies, procedures and authorizations. Prepare journal entries dealing with more complex accounting functions. Review, analyze, and resolve more moderately complex issues in accounting transactions. Follow specific and detailed accounting procedures. Assist in the creation and maintenance of allocation rules. Coordinate and prepares quarterly reports for inclusion in External Reporting.
Improve processes to ensure that integrity, control and optimal efficiency are established while minimizing financial risks. Develop and implements process improvement initiatives. Flexibility to work on ad-hoc projects as needed/requested. Provides functional advice and consultation to business partners and assess impact of changes to business as usual processes. Recommend, develop, implement and train staff on changes that improve standardization, increase efficiency and enhance controls.
Provides technical accounting advice for the organization and act as subject matter expert to company and regulated accounting policies. May be the organizational expert on certain accounting functions. Leads complex projects, determines action plans and may escalate issues and resolutions to leadership.
Provide direction and lead other accountants.
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance 5+ years accounting experience General ledger experience Strong analytical and problem solving skills Proficient with current desktop tools, specifically Excel
Experience having lead project initiatives CPA Apply "root cause analysis" to obtain the origination of critical operational and financial problems and protectively apply action steps to resolve issues Strong understanding of systems, controls, accounting knowledge, financials, and processes within multiple legal entities Strong understanding of the end-to-end process flows, systems, controls and impacts across products and business lines they support Strong technical ability using the general ledger, spreadsheets, Access databases and word processing applications Ability to work independently and self-direct to meet priorities
