The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering seeks an accounting assistant III with broad experience in accounting/bookkeeping functions in support of the department accountant and senior administrator. S/he will have significant financial responsibilities in the areas of procurement, accounts receivable and accounts payable. S/he will also complete pre-award proposal submissions and assist the department accountant with post award funds administration. This is a full-time, in-person position.
This position is hiring between $37,500 and $49,700.

Reviews, processes and reconciles invoices and expenses
Prepares detailed expenditure and budgetary reports
Analyzes information and maintains a database of designated revenue transaction and tax information
May serve as the purchase agent
Reviews and interprets legal documents for financial terms and conditions
May assist in budget proposal preparation
Prepares reports on department expenses and forecasts
HS Diploma or equivalent
Five years of related experience in providing accounting or finance support with at least two years of related experience in purchasing or bookkeeping
Ability to perform basic calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculating percentages
Understanding of debits/credits, allocation of expenses to accounts, ability to think critically
Excellent knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, database software programs to complete work assignments
Excellent attention to detail
In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Experience in higher education, preferably Rice
Experience working with Oracle ERP system
Excellent written communication skills
Knowledge of federal grant submission processes
