The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) is seeking a Staff Accountant, who is detail-oriented and highly motivated. The role will support the OLC’s Financial Analyst and the organization by carrying out accounting and data entry operations. This job requires someone with a high degree of integrity and critical thinking skills. The Staff Accountant will be a strong team-player, able to manage multiple and shifting priorities, be self-motivated, results driven, and have strong time-management skills.
Processes purchase orders and invoices from vendors, contractors, and other entities into the financial accounting and sales systems
Maintains W-9 Form database for all vendors
Facilitates payments to vendors, contractors, and other parties, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies
Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
Receives and verifies expense reports are submitted via the expense reimbursement system in accordance with company policy
Reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records
Completes all vendor procurement forms and state tax exemption forms
Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable
Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers
Maintains sales system by marking all opportunities closed and updating membership dates
Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills / Abilities:
Possess knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
Understand and able to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
Able to learn accounting software systems
Exhibit key characteristics of reliability and trustworthiness
Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with an ability to prioritize
Able to maintain confidential and meticulous records
Possess time management skills and is a multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrate communication and relationship building skills and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or a related field
2-3 years of accounting experience
Experience in Quickbooks accounting system
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Expertise with Quickbooks
Knowledge of Salesforce and Fonteva
Prior experience in a non-profit or higher education industries
Familiarity or experience with the goals and mission of the Online Learning Consortium
