The Junior Accountant is a detail-oriented member of the WMCHealth Finance team that is responsible for assisting in financial record keeping and accounting tasks of WMCHealth on a daily basis including performing complex accounting and recordkeeping procedures related to various business transactions. The Junior accountant is a strong team member that is able to work effectively and efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment and able to perform work timely, independently and in a professional manner with high level of attention to detail.
Posts journal entries including the recording of the daily cash receipts, expense accruals and other accounting functions.
Handle cash, credit, or check transactions and prepare daily bank deposits.
Assist in the month end closing process through general ledger review and the preparation of required journal entries and supporting schedules.
Performs bank account reconciliations to ensure general ledger reconciles with actual bank balances.
Maintains various monthly accounting records and schedules.
Prepares third party invoices and maintains Accounts Receivable roll-forward and related schedules.
Works with departments, as needed, to resolve any issues related to cash applications and/or cash disbursements.
Prepares monthly and/or ad-hoc financial reports and/or analyses, as needed.
Participates and assists in month-end and year-end close and assists in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports.
Participates and assists in preparation of annual budgets.
Participates and assists in annual audits.
Participates and assist in various accounting projects and performs related duties as assigned.
Two years of accounting experience, required.
Bachelor's degree, required.
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and internal controls - Nonprofit accounting experience preferred; Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications; Familiar with accounting software programs and able to learn new computer systems/applications.
