This Student Life and Engagement, Accountant I position is within the Business and Financial Services Unit which prepares, examines and analyzes accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to University business procedures; develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems; maintain fund ledgers; make use of Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) and other appropriate computer technology; prepare reports that compare event budgeted costs to actual costs; assist in analyzing business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice; process travel reimbursements, sponsorships and advertising revenues, invoices, deposits; maintain procurement card records and purchase orders. The position supports an office that is fast paced and requires working nights and weekends based on operational needs.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience as unit Fiscal Officer for multiple accounts
Familiar with EBS, QuickBooks, Transact, Ultra Time, Quad Point, Microsoft Office, SIS and Team Dynamix
Familiar with vendor contracts and payment processing
Project management and process mapping skills
Ability to understand the University’s accounting system.
Familiarity with and an awareness of the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function and are required to ensure compliance.
Ability to exercise judgement in the processing and resolution of non-routine accounting matters while assuming responsibility for those decisions.
Assists supervisor with the financial and business operations, personnel and projects related to strategic initiatives and processes.
Audits and advises Units on financial and administrative performance
