What's the role?

We are looking for a Corporate Controller, to be based in Brooklyn, NY, who will report to the CAO. This position is a VP level and will lead the accounting team through Etsy’s stage of growth and transformation and will be a trusted business partner to the rest of the finance organization and the broader operational team.

The team of approximately 40 people are located in Brooklyn, NY, Dublin, Ireland and remotely.  Overall the Company’s work modes are hybrid (4-6x/month in office). We support Etsy’s growth by ensuring timely and accurate consolidated financial reporting, including our House of Brands and ESG Reporting, providing meaningful business support, automating processes and maintaining a strong and sustainable internal control environment. Our goal is to contribute to Etsy at multiple levels by combining strong accounting and business senses, while subscribing to Etsy’s mission and values. What does the day-to-day look like?

You will manage the day to day Accounting & Reporting function, drive process improvements, manage the team, and partner with the rest of finance to perform as a unified world class business partner to the rest of the organization. You’ll lead the general accounting, including GAAP and statutory, and SEC reporting including MD&A, managing the day-to-day work and providing guidance, direction and coaching to the team. You’ll work closely with the other finance teams, including internal controls, tax and FP&A, in overseeing the monthly accounting close and the quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements, and process and systems work done by the financial solutions team. In addition, you’ll assist in ensuring that the financial control environment is strong and sustainable, and supportive of our business growth.

• Direct functions including general accounting and consolidations, internal financial reporting and SEC reporting, technical accounting, and statutory accounting 

• Be a business partner providing insights for business decisions, as well as enterprise opportunities, projects, efficiencies and cost savings.

• Ensure accounting policies supporting US GAAP and appropriate internal controls are in place and followed

• Monitor and assess current trends and emerging developments within the field and practice of accounting to ensure the company’s compliance and preparedness.

• Key point of contact for outside auditors and lead the audit process for the company

• System owner and agent of change for system improvements and technology automation

• Approve expenditures for proposed contracts, and legal arrangements as necessary

• Manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment

• Develop diverse talent to promote team retention to meet current and future business needs; career development opportunities for team

• Champion learning and development opportunities to facilitate engagement and professional development at right levels.

• Provide support on capital raises with Treasurer and CFO
