JustinBradley’s client, a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars, is seeking an Associate Controller to join their team. Established by an Act of Congress, this organization is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. The Associate Controller will assist the Controller in managing the financial and regulatory risks of the organization in a variety of functional areas.

Highlighted Responsibilities:
Closes the books for the year, preparing the annual financial statements, and serving as a primary contact for the external auditors.
Leads a multi-disciplinary group of employees in projects that will maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
Assumes responsibility for functional accounting areas as assigned, ensuring that accounting is performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Implements appropriate internal controls and audit procedures to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Performs financial statement analysis.
Designs and implements accounting procedures to take advantage of best practices and office automation.
Directly supervises and coordinates activities of assigned employee(s).
Serves on various multi-disciplinary teams convened for special projects.
Maintains an appropriate standard of confidentiality. When handling secure, privileged, sensitive, or confidential information and matters, maintains strict confidence and exercises care to prevent disclosure to others.
Other duties as assigned.
A well-qualified candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
CPA certification required.
Nonprofit experience highly desired.
Eight years of related professional experience, three of which were in a supervisory experience.
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
