Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Accountant as part of the Finance Team located in Fairbanks, AK. This position earns a competitive wage and excellent benefits.

GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.

As part of a team, Our Accountants play an important role by ensuring transactional data is accurately reflected in GVEA's system of accounts and that data in the subsidiary records is accurate and balanced to the general ledger. They provide advanced accounting support through analytical analysis of financial data and by participating in peer review of the work of other accountants. The accountant is responsible for key areas which may include financial accounting, payroll, regulatory and financial reporting.

GVEA Accountants play an integral role in our ability to serve the Interior of Alaska by providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ACCOUNTANT

• Bachelors' degree in Accounting or related field. Commensurate experience will be consider in lieu of degree requirement.
• Minimum four years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Supervisory experience a plus.
• Cooperative and/or utility experience preferred.
• Strong background with fully integrated computerized accounting systems preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position typically works Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
