General Description:
Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Operations, the Jr. Accountant performs the work required to organize, document, and support the Finance department of the College.
Responsibilities include maintaining the receivable ledger, cash receipt management, processing check payments and assisting accounts payable.
Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:
· Handles the issuance and control of the College's Purchasing and Travel cards. Ensures that they are utilized in accordance with College policy. Prepares monthly journal entry as it pertains to card usage
· Processes the general cash receipts for the College and Foundation including inputting into the Colleague module as well as preparing the corresponding bank deposit
· Prepares the monthly operating lease check requests
· Processes operating, Foundation and student refund checks
· Assist the Accounts Payable Coordinator with the processing of vendor invoices, ensuring timely payment of invoices and confirming validity of debt
· Supports the accounts payable process with the future need of the College in mind.
· Prepares the calendar year-end reporting (1099s)
· Works with the Purchasing department to ensure proper classification of vendor information in the system
· Responsible for processing and analyzing utility payments
· Performs general accounting duties as needed in the department
· Performs other duties as assigned
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Experience:
Minimum one year experience in general accounting role.
Prior experience in using Ellucian Colleague system preferable but not required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
· This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
· Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
· Some travel may be required.
