The Senior Staff Accountant position will play a critical role in the month-end close, owning the more technical accounting areas, assisting and reviewing the work of certain staff accountants ensuring the accuracy of accounting information, reconciling various accounts, and consolidating financial results. A successful Senior Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze account reconciliations and financial results. This position will also assist with special projects and analyses. Additionally, the position requires an ability to easily adapt to new processes and learn new technology in a dynamic business environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries in the more technical accounting areas including inventory, lease accounting and stock-based compensation.
- Reconciles and balances accounts, resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts; preparing a trial balance; reconciling entries.
- Summarizes financial results by preparing balance sheets, profit and loss, and other statements.
- Assists the Controller with the review of the work of the staff accountants
- Completes external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information to auditors.
- Protects the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Ad-hoc projects as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 4+ years of accounting experience
- A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work additional hours during critical periods.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple groups on multiple levels.

PREFERRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Experience in Microsoft Office, including strong Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior retail experience is a plus.
