We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Manager, Strategic Planning, Analysis and Insights??- Global Finance??
Principal Responsibilities
- The role holder will be a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team within the HSBC Global Insurance Finance function and report to the Global Head of Analysis, Insight and Strategic Planning, based in Hong Kong
- The team is responsible for all aspects of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Business Finance Partnering and Insight across Global Insurance at HSBC
- This is a high profile business partnering role with significant regular engagement with the head of finance teams and businesses. The role holder will be responsible for delivery of insights and analysis supporting commercial decision making and capital allocation, and for supporting the internal and external messaging of the HSBC Global Insurance business??? financial results.?? This will involve frequent interaction with Bank finance and investor relations teams
- Actuarial techniques are used extensively within insurance financial reporting, asset and liability management, capital management, investment management and product pricing. A good understanding of actuarial valuation concepts is required in order to enable full engagement with these aspects of the business
- Through the delivery of well-considered and value-adding quantitative analysis to management, the role holder and wider team will have a deep understanding of the business model and provide commercial drivers and articulations behind the financial results of the insurance businesses. Furthermore, the role holder and the wider team will facilitate the development of solutions to the complex financial challenges faced by the business and shapes the future strategic direction. Those challenges include managing the impacts of the new IFRS 17 reporting standard effective from 2023 which will represent a fundamental change to HSBC???s accounting for insurance contracts. Clear and organised communication of the impacts of IFRS 17 to internal and external stakeholders will be a key component of the role, alongside integration of the new analysis capabilities and financial planning and forecasting solutions being built by the implementation programme into business as usual (BAU) reporting
Requirements
- Understanding of the life insurance industry and embedded value reporting (IFRS17 working knowledge and/ or HK RBC knowledge will be an advantage)
- Strong working experience and exposure to Life Insurance Financial metrics
- Actuarial or financial accountant with FP&A or business finance expertise
- Actuarial designation would be desirable
- Strong financial background ??? including in-depth understanding of insurance and financial markets (theory & instruments)
- Strong influencing, communication (written and verbal) and a proven ability to lead group-wide processes and working with international and virtual teams
