Reporting to the Director of Tax, the successful candidate will lead and assist with business-critical tasks related to indirect taxes and various areas of compliance, including GA utility property taxes, GA sales and use tax reporting and income tax compliance. This role will play a large part in a small team and will have frequent interaction with all levels of the Controllers and the Planning team. Job Duties
- Prepare/manage annual GA property tax computations for forecasting and for tax filings
- Prepare/manage monthly & annual sales and use tax compliance function
- Manage/maintain proper state sales tax exemption certificates
- Review semi-monthly and/or quarterly federal and GA payroll tax returns
- Assist with other areas of direct & indirect tax projects, such as UCR vehicle compliance, lobbying expense computations, non-highway fuel tax refunds, 1099s, etc.
- Prepare/review monthly tax journal entries
- Performs tax research and maintains compliance trackers
Education: BBA in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Business or related field.
Experience: 2-8 + years of progressive general accounting experience required, preference given to a specialty or prior experience in GA property taxes, GA sales and use taxes, and federal/state income/franchise taxes (Tax Acct II=2-4 years; Tax Acct III=4-8 years; Tax Acct IV=8+years)
Equivalent Experience:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the corporation. Experience with PowerPlan and PowerTax, preferred. Familiarity with using tax preparation software such as CCH Axcess, ProSystems Engagement, as well as utilizing online tax research applications (CCH), preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat for paperless reviewing. Experience with Infor (Lawson) and Business Objects applications helpful. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: CPA certificate or candidate preferred, but not required
