The Accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller in managing the finance department. This role is responsible for achieving finance goals and objectives by ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting and financial functions.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Financial statement preparation, including journal entries, bank reconciliation, event reconciliation and department financials.
Fixed asset accounting oversight
Assist with audit preparation, including workpaper preparation and research.
Oversight and review of payables process
Prepare and pay sales tax and royalties.
Manage staff credit cards, including policies, review of appropriate spending, and management of online credit card system.
Track employee travel and training; inform appropriate staff of budgeted amounts as needed.
Other projects and duties as assigned
Educational / Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting with a minimum of five years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred, but not required; knowledge of accounting practices and office procedures required; experience working with financial statements and audits; management experience preferred, but not required; experience working in performing arts and non-profit organizations is highly preferred.
