Job Summary
This is a senior manager position on the AIA Finance & Administration team reporting to the Chief Finance & Administration Officer (CFAO). This team focuses on developing and maintaining relationships through AIA’s business focused committees and the ACD partnership. Additionally, this role will support the development of business and investment opportunities that further AIA’s position in the architecture, engineering and construction industries as well as generate non-dues revenue. This role supports potential future relationships as well as current partnerships in which AIA is an equity partner.
The Sr. Manager supports the logistics for 1735 NY Avenue Investments, LLC, a wholly owned $150 million investment fund subsidiary of the AIA. Including coordination and planning of quarterly Board meetings, outside investment firm updates, digital technology platform and communications.
Working with AIA’s commercial business partners and multiple groups of volunteers, the senior manager utilizes skills in logistics, operations, project management, organization and coordination to manage the work of the AIA Documents Committee and ACD Brand Review Committee; including, when needed, supporting new AIA initiatives with these key business partners. This role handles all needed operational transition items as a result of the sale of the business, as well as on-going matters throughout various AIA departments that surface as a result of or have been affected by the sale.
The senior manager will support the logistics of the AIA Documents Committee and the ACD Brand Review Committee, staff leadership and the plan for the development and future content of documents, member products and services, specifications and other work products meets the standards as set forth by the AIA.
This position might require travel to attend committee and other meetings outside of the DC area.
Job Duties:
Writing, editing, coordinating and facilitating member engagement including, but not limited to, the following:
- Support of the the business relationships with ACD Operations, resulting in internal satisfaction and perceived progress with both partnerships. Includes functional planning, managing conflict/risk, and escalating concerns.
- Support business relationships to the benefit of AIA. Leverage resources, apprise leadership, promote awareness, prioritize initiatives as necessary.
- Define and manage success milestones and metrics, working with finance, business development, and other teams to drive success.
- Support alignment of partners, committees and internal teams to support ACD partnership.
- Deliver regular detailed performance reporting to internal staff.
- Coordinate events & meetings with ACD that directly contribute to the committees’ work and business.
- Oversee the solicitation and incorporate feedback from stakeholders on committee issues to ensure that product development policies and procedures meet their needs.
- Recommend operational changes to improve the effectiveness of committee based on program results, member feedback, and changes in requirements.
- Facilitate internal AIA cross-functional team consisting of the Chief Finance and Administration Officer, SVP Finance and Administration, General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Director of Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure effective management, governance, and financial stewardship of the entity by AIA.
- Contribute to, draft, and/or edit formal documentation such as the Investment Policy Statement, Board of Director appointment letters, and informational briefs for 1735 Investments.
- Arrange 1735 Investments board meetings, and draft board meeting agendas and minutes.
- Manage all Board related matters in-person and in the online board management platform.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to track and nurture relationships with committee members, business partners and volunteers.
- Building specifications, building information modeling and knowledge of Specs and BIM used in the design and construction industry preferred.
- Experience with a mid-size to large design or construction entity or owner is beneficial.
- Skill in the use of Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and Zoom
- Strong attention to detail. Skill in organizing and prioritizing tasks
Bachelor’s or Associate Degree preferred with a minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience in Architecture, Engineering, Design, Construction Management, Project Management.

Work Location: Washington, DC. Hybrid. This position will periodically be required to be on-site at the AIA Headquarters in Washington D.C.
