The Accounting Services Department at the University of Minnesota is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant that is motivated to learn and share your accounting talents and experiences with its fellow team members.
Salary range for this position $65,000 - $70,000 annually.

Primary Responsibilities:
Internal and External Financial Reporting Processes (50%)
- Support the annual external financial audit by preparing internal and external deliverables related to the Annual Statement and other financial reports. This includes coordination with others to execute the preparation of audit schedules, footnotes and supporting documentation, as well as driving the execution of the management of external reporting requirements (deliverable listing, timelines, resource management, etc.)
- Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, as assigned, and determine if any appropriate adjusting journal entries are needed.
- Promote organizational excellence by collaborating with departments to resolve any unrecorded transactions.
Rotational Duties Financial Support (30%)
- Chart of Accounts maintenance and analysis.
- Field University-wide general accounting questions.
- Perform central approvals on accounts payable vouchers and journal entries.
Accounting Policies and Procedures and Other Special Projects (20%)
- Assist with the oversight, simplification, redesign, and implementation of key Accounting Services processes and responsibilities, including policy revision and creation.
- Perform special projects as assigned by the Director or Controller; or self-initiated projects including special analyses, projects and reports.
Required Qualifications (please document on the resume):
- BA/BS degree in Accounting, or other related field and three years of related experience OR a combination of related education and/or work experience to equal seven years.
- Experience in GAAP accounting.
- Financial reporting experience.
Preferred Qualifications (please document on the resume):
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (PeopleSoft/Oracle, SAP) and related reporting tools and queries.
- Strong analytical skills to understand the impact of detailed processes and related transactions.
- Problem solving, critical thinking, and ability to independently troubleshoot potential solutions.
- Advanced spreadsheet and database skills.
