What will you be responsible for?
The Internal Audit Manager, Global Technology is instrumental in assisting the Global Technology Internal Audit Senior Manager and Global Internal Audit Director in establishing strategy, defining and implementing technology audit activities (global technology assurance roadmap, audits, advisory services, and IT SOX) and leading audits as assigned. The role involves building effective working relationships with key collaborators as assigned.
The Internal Audit Manager, Global Technology works collaboratively with various customers as well as other members of the Internal Audit team to conduct and lead audits, advisory services, SOX compliance efforts, and supports the achievement of IA team objectives in accordance with the Institute of Internal Audit Standards and Newmont IA methodologies.
Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:
Participate in the ongoing development and execution of Internal Audit’s strategy.
Develop an appropriate understanding of the operations and assigned global functions to identify efficiency or effectiveness issues that result in cost savings, productivity improvements, or control environment improvements in alignment with the company’s risk tolerance.
Assist with the development of departmental staffing and business plan.
Follow the Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, published by the Institute of Internal Auditors.
In collaboration with the Internal Audit Senior Manager, Global Technology, and the IA Leadership Team, as well as functional partner discussions, review and update quarterly the audit plan for the region and/or assigned functions to address emerging risks in the business and respond to management requests for IA support.
In support of the Company’s operating model, ensure that technology activities are consistent with departmental stated practices and with minimal deviation.
Lead and run technology audit team activities to ensure they are aligned to complete the rolling global technology audit plan including audit priorities, strategies, and the required budget and schedule to provide assurance over the Company’s global technology risks.
Working with the Senior Manager, Global Technology, plan and handle all aspects of technology audits as assigned. This includes providing direction to other assigned team members and acting as the primary audit contact with the applicable stakeholder(s).
Prepare and review reports of audit observations and recommendations developed by the assigned audit teams to ensure accurate messaging, tone, and quality. Present reports to the Senior Manager, Global Technology, Global Director, and Vice President of Internal Audit, for review and approval prior to release.
Present audit findings and observations to technology and/or functional management as the need arises based on audit and advisory results.
Support periodic reporting, including monthly IA Scorecard, Management Action Plans (MAPs) status reporting and Audit Committee updates, as needed.
Ensure IA scorecard performance metrics are consistently achieved for assigned responsibilities.
Run all aspects of third-party resources used to support assigned responsibilities.
Your training, skills, and experience checklist
B.S. degree in Information Systems Management, Technology, Accounting, Finance or other related subject area required
CPA, CIA, CISA, CISM, CISSP or country equivalent (i.e. chartered accountant) designation desired
Knowledge of the mining industry is desirable
SAP ERP systems knowledge and experience preferred
Ten years of experience in roles of growing responsibility and leadership required
Experience in public accounting, consulting, or internal audit with a large global public company required
Experience leading global teams and audit projects
Experience with internal control and/or technology frameworks (COSO, COBIT, ISO, NIST) is desirable.
Working conditions and location
The position is located in the Denver corporate office with a hybrid schedule of remote and onsite work.
May be required to travel to and assist other domestic and international sites.
