Payroll Shared Services provides payroll processing and accounting services for Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Health System, which consists of multiple employers. Payroll Shared Services activities include regular payroll processing including labor distribution for finance, off-cycle payroll, garnishments, time management including interfaces from Kronos and Nightingale timekeeping systems, remittances to 3rd party vendors, and financial reporting.
We are seeking a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for Hopkins Enterprise-wide payroll processing and accounting. This includes payroll processing and accounting, resolution of payroll issues and communication with various offices.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Use SAP to execute payroll including postings to finance and 3rd party remittances in Account Payable to ensure that payroll is processed on time and accurately
Use SAP BW (business warehouse) to create reports for payroll controls and to provide technical support and guidance to departments for reporting
Analyze payroll results and develop queries to ensure data integrity and reduce compliance risk
Work with HR/Payroll Shared Services staff, SAP support team and departments to resolve payroll and time management errors in a timely fashion
Perform various accounting functions including journal entries and account reconciliation
Work with the director and payroll managers to identify work process improvements
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
BS Degree in Accounting, Business or related field and 3 years progressively related experience.
If degree is in a non-related field the requirement is 4-5 years of progressively responsible experience.
Requires knowledge of payroll and cost accounting principles, applicable laws and regulations for payroll and tax, and payroll processing controls.
Note: Overtime is required as needed.

CPA or Master's Degree, knowledge of payroll and/or cost accounting systems preferred.
SAP experience a plus.
