THE OPPORTUNITY: The Not-For Profit Revenue Manager has direct responsibility over the determination, recording, tracking, and reporting of revenues and overall gift management. The Revenue Manager will exercise independent judgment and discretion in planning and carrying out details of work procedures and methods using generally accepted accounting principles, specifically as they apply to not-for-profit entities, and in accordance with policies and best practices. Work will be done in collaboration with various internal partners inside the Finance team as well as with other teams including Development Operations. The position interfaces with external groups including current and potential donors, auditors, and other organizations, as deemed appropriate. Skills and expertise in successful revenue management will aid the organization in serving our mission by securing ongoing and expanded funding, improving business opportunities through effective funding programs, and executing meaningful initiatives.
Responsible for monthly revenue close, including general ledger accounting of revenue, bank reconciliation of inbound donations and contribution reporting, and reconciliation process between Razor’s Edge and Financial Edge
Oversees Gift Processing function and supervises the Sr. Manager, Gift Processing who in turn manages the day-to-day work
Responsible for accounting for gifts with restrictions; releasing restricted assets, projecting year end balances, and providing insight on projected future year balances
Responsible for Accounts Receivable and invoice management; partners with the organization on aging reports and appropriate next steps for collection
Lead Audit contact for revenue, A/R, and restricted net asset accounting
Provides a thorough review of executed donor agreements for proper revenue accounting
Provides accounting guidance on crafting and evaluating donor proposals with development
Supports the development team with donor requests including progress or financial reports, ensuring compliance with all revenue reporting and donor compliance stipulations, and collaborating with Payroll and Human Resources to ensure that donor allocations are correct and updated timely
Reviews and classifies donations in concert with Development Operations
Recognized as a subject matter expert in non-profit revenue management, which includes educating staff on policies surrounding revenue recognition for proper accounting and to meet our fiscal year goals
Responsible for projects to drive automation/efficiencies, such as our accounting of restricted funds
Responsible for projects to ensure latest accounting standards are fully adopted (i.e., In-kind gifts reporting)

IF YOU ARE...
Experienced in not-for-profit accounting and revenue management with a strong knowledge of revenue recognition and application of relevant accounting standards to the organization
Experienced in revenue accounting types and treatment (i.e., conditional vs. unconditional, gifts with and without donor restrictions)
Capable of working closely with Development, Customer Service, IT, and other internal teams to ensure proper accounting of gifts
Proficient in the Microsoft suite of products
Effective in cross-departmental, one-on-one, small, and large group settings, with varying levels of staff and executive leadership, a must
Experience with donor management software, CRMs. Prior experience with Blackbaud Razor’s Edge, Financial Edge highly desirable
AND YOU HAVE...
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
Minimum of a BA in Accounting or related field; CPA preferred
The ability to demonstrate and understand the donor process with a stewardship mindset
The ability to understand the ‘big picture’ from Development’s perspective to support their drive for growth and provide insights as needed (donor requested schedules, restricted funding opportunities, mid-month revenue progress tracking, etc.)
Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
Strong written, oral, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas in ways that are accessible and understandable
