The Part-Time Accountant will report to the Controller and will support the accounting functions of the Business Office. This is an opportunity to join a vibrant educational community and maintain a flexible part-time work schedule (approximately 16 hours per week).
Process weekly accounts payable of vendor invoices.
Perform weekly check runs and related mailings and filing.
Process semi-monthly payroll and retirement plan for all employees, and record related journal entries.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts. Record journal entries to properly state the cash accounts and maintain support schedules for all adjustments recorded.
Monitor status of all issued checks as cleared, outstanding or voided.
Assist with the coding and documentation of all credit card transactions.
Prepare other journal entries and analyses, as needed.
Organize and file all vendor invoices and records.
Assist with other accounting projects, initiatives, and audit requests.
Perform other duties as determined by the Controller or DFO.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 1-3 years of experience
Proficiency in Google or Microsoft spreadsheets and documents
Knowledge of accounting and financial principles (GAAP)
Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and accuracy
Excellent oral and written communications skills
Ability to problem solve
Professionalism and integrity
Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor
Experience utilizing accounting and payroll processing/HR software systems
