This position will require weekly in-office work under a hybrid working model.
Under the supervision of the Controller, manages specified accounting task related to expenses, account analysis, preparation of financial reports, payroll and assisting with monthly closing procedures. Responsible for implementing accepted accounting principles and procedures in performance of duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews and verifies proper approval/coding on accounts payable invoices, and processes accounts payable using accounts payable software.
Provides training and support to employees on the use of accounts payable software.
Processes semi-monthly payroll using ADP and collaborates with HR to administer semi-monthly 403(b) remittances: and annual 457(b) and annual 457(f) remittances.
Prepares semi-monthly payroll journal entry using LeadingAge’s general ledger software.
Prepares American Express statements for monthly remittances and coordinates with each card holder their corresponding expenses to be uploaded through LeadingAge’s accounts payable software.
Works with individuals within the organization to set-up an account within Concur and reviews all transactions verifying proper support and coding before processing for reimbursement.
Works in partnership with LeadingAge’s conference team on managing prepaids before the annual conference.
Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets, and recommend within the finance department any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
Responsible for creating and communicating key financial and business analysis/support to the organization on capital expenditure and depreciation trends.
Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements for each department for review by the Controller and VP of Finance and for distribution to the departments.
Assists with annual audit and Form 990 as assigned.
Prepares sales and use tax reports and returns.
Performs ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED
BS/BA in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience needed.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications necessary including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Familiarity with all phases of accounting, through financial statement preparation needed. Ability to identify issues and if necessary, collaborate with other staff to propose solutions based on accepted accounting principles and procedures in performance of duties.
Strong proofreading, attention to detail and organizational skills required
Familiar with the field's concepts and practices and knowledge of automated accounting systems priority (Solomon or Sage/Intact). Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, productivity and accuracy is priority. Ability to follow an audit trail is necessary. Must be change and team oriented.
Exceptional customer service skills essential.
Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
Ability to learn/translate/refer to large amounts of technical material and produce written communications such as, but not limited to, training materials.
Ability to travel to external meetings both locally and nationally, including periodic overnight travel.
Normal work requires frequent use telephone and computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
Ability to be move about at Annual Meeting; Leadership Summit Conference; and other meetings and events.
May be required to move about frequently in the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, attend meetings, etc.
May require standing/sitting for prolonged periods of time during meetings and conferences.
