Maimonides School, a coeducational Orthodox Jewish day school in Brookline, Massachusetts, is conducting a search to recruit an experienced Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for the accounting operations of the school, to include producing periodic financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting and financial records, and ensuring a set of controls and budgets which will enhance the accuracy of the school’s financial reports. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.
Key responsibilities for this position are:
Supervise the Accounts Payable/Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate processing, tracking, payment and filing of vendor invoices. Assist as needed with bi-weekly payroll processing for approx.100 employees;
Oversee 1099 preparation and distribution;
Provide support and documentation for annual external audits;
Responsible for billing, recording, and collection of tuition and fees, conducting reconciliation of these accounts among multiple systems;
Responsible for tracking, recording and collection of pledges, contributions, grants, donations and payments on pledges in conjunction with the Director of Development;
Support the CFO with budget preparation by preparing schedules, forecasts, analysis, and other special reports, as needed;
Ensure timely and accurate closing of the books each month, reviewing monthly budget vs. actual results with CFO, and providing monthly reports and reconciliations;
Manage and reconcile monthly bank activities, statements and investment accounts;
Assist the CFO with monthly financial results to present to the Board of Directors;
Ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and at least 5 years of finance/accounting experience, including supervisory experience;
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills;
Impeccable accuracy and attention to detail;
Strong interpersonal skills, clear written and verbal communication skills;
Experience in nonprofit and/or independent schools is preferred;
Experience with Veracross, QuickBooks, Payroll and Excel applications.
