Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operational Reporting, the Associate Financial Analyst provides financial analysis and reporting for the University's business units and participates in designing, coordinating and publishing reporting to internal and external stakeholders. This position's primary focus will be the development and ongoing maintenance of routine financial analysis.
The Associate Financial Analyst supports on-going efforts to redesign and improve processes, audit budget records, analyze financial performance against budget with respect to the financial goals established by the EVP and the university, and examine any linkages with the long-range university plans and strategic goals. The Associate Financial Analyst will also actively participate in the preparation of internal financial reports, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results of the University's operating activities.
This Financial Analyst will be a subject matter expert on the university's operational reporting offerings, and may serve as a point of contact for some financial reporting related matters. This position will develop strong enterprise-wide relationships to ensure timely and accurate internal and external reports. The position requires a broad knowledge of Oracle reporting tools, university and area operations, industry practices, and accounting and finance principles and best practices.

Operational Reporting package and dashboard maintenance: The analyst will be the subject matter expert on the university's operational reporting package, working with business analysts to ensure operational reporting is effective, and functioning. This will involve development and testing of new reports, or report enhancements, as well as monitoring report status. This will also include assisting with the development and ongoing maintenance of operational reporting dashboards. This will require pulling in data from various sources, updating dashboards as needed, and ensuring all data links are working on a routine basis.
Routine financial reporting and analysis: Support financial analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis at the direction of the Sr. Manager and Sr. Financial Analyst. Create executive-level reporting and analysis at the university, college, department and program level, and assist with long range financial planning. This will also include Strategic Fund tracking and the associated reporting, for which the Associate Analyst will serve as the lead. The associate analyst will track all strategic fund pools and monitor funding, spending, and balances.
Ad hoc reporting & new report design: At the direction of the Sr. Manager or Sr. Financial Analyst, the Analyst will support the design of ad hoc and on-going reports to assist managers and executives in Financial Affairs and other university divisions with decision-making, problem definition and resolution, and operational and strategic planning.
Financial surveys: At the direction of the Sr. Manager, support the completion of select recurring internal and external surveys to ensure the university remains compliant with all reporting requirements.

Bachelor degree is required, Accounting or Finance degree is preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in Accounting, Budgeting, or Financial Analysis is required.
Oracle Reporting (Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence, Financial Reporting Studio, Business Intelligence Publisher, or SmartView) experience preferred.
Financial Planning & Analysis, consulting, public accounting, or higher education, experience preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products, ability to create and deliver presentations is preferred.
Certified Public Accountant license or master's degree preferred.
The Associate Financial Analyst will have no direct managerial responsibility.
Dollar Amount - The Associate Financial Analyst is responsible for maintaining reporting pertaining to the entire university, with the scope of operating and capital budgets totaling to roughly $600 million.
Contacts - This position provides guidance to executives and non-executives both internal and external to the university.

Advanced analytical skills, including finding synthesis and drawing conclusions from disparate data sources to provide comprehensive and meaningful conclusions.
