kW Engineering is looking for a Staff Accountant who is passionate about being part of a growing team. The ideal candidate will be well organized and comfortable dealing with financial data. We are looking for someone who desires to make a difference in the daily accounting process at the firm.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include:
Responsible for vendor and subconsultant invoices by obtaining approvals from managers and verifying, allocating, entering, and posting transactions as directed
Responsible to ensure weekly check run is completed on time, checks with appropriate enclosures mailed and/or ACH payments are initiated for approval
Review monthly vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
Maintaining accurate records and entry of employee payouts regarding Flex spending accounts and Health Reimbursement Accounts
Commuter check management
Responsible for accounts receivable by allocating payments received by client to outstanding invoices and posting such transactions
Update and maintain License and Certifications
Credit card reconciliations
Bank account reconciliations
General ledger account reconciliations
Assist the accounting manager with month and year end closing
Other projects as requested
Qualifications for the staff accountant:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, or Finance
Three to five years' experience in accounting
Solid knowledge of accounting and understanding debits and credits
Experience in Full Cycle Accounting
A general understanding of GAAP
Experience in the A/E industry is a plus
Experience with Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint is a plus
Comfortable and skilled with Word, Outlook, and Excel
This is a Hybrid position and requires two days in the Oakland office.
