South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an amazing team member to fill the position of Broadband Accountant at our brand-new Lancaster, Ohio facility!
What you will be doing…
The position is responsible for providing cooperative management with reporting and analytics on the construction or retirement of fiber plant assets and related financial metrics. The Broadband Accountant will maintain fiber assets, perform general accounting tasks, prepare reconciliations, support regulatory reporting, and assist in keeping all accounting records in accordance Federal Communications Commission (“FCC”) and Rural Utility Service (“RUS”).
Some of the day-to-day duties include:
Track and report progress on construction and operating budgets.
Maintain the fiber plant financial records to support regulatory reporting, tax filing, or audit requirements.
Perform month-end tasks to include journal entries, reconciliation, and reporting.
Coordinate with Accounting, Purchasing and Warehouse Managers for oversight of fiber material transactions, reconcile and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
Coordinate with Operations, Engineering or Project Managers on work order oversight to analyze staking sheets, resolve discrepancies, escalate issues, and monitor progress of fiber work orders to ensure accurate and timely creation, tracking and closeout.
Collaborate with team members on governance and consolidation of Cooperative financial data for reporting, compliance and audit support.
Stay current on FCC regulatory and compliance requirements. Support required filings.
What the job requires…
Associate of Science degree in accounting is required.
Minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience.
Possess advanced knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
Up-to-date technology expertise with accounting software and advanced Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
